How to publish your podcast to Apple Podcasts (iTunes)

Right now, Apple Podcasts is the number one podcast directory in the world, capturing about 34% of total podcast listeners.

With over 1,000,000 podcasts listed, Apple Podcasts is definitely one of, if not the top directory to start with.

In this guide, we'll show you how to get your podcast listed on Apple Podcasts.

Hosting your podcast

Apple Podcasts is what is considered a podcast directory; they are a means of discovering podcasts hosted all of the internet which means they don't actually host anything themselves. To get your podcast on Apple Podcasts, all you need is an RSS feed that describes your podcast and its episodes and where to find the audio files.

You can create your RSS feed manually, but if you use a platform like CastCloud.fm, we'll automatically generate your RSS feed for you in addition to hosting and distributing your audio files through our globally accessible CDN.

Submitting to Apple Podcasts

Step 1: iTunes Connect

In order to tell Apple Podcasts about your podcast, you'll need an iTunes Connect account which uses your Apple ID.

If you have an Apple ID, you can log in here: https://podcastsconnect.apple.com

If you don't have an Apple ID, Apple has a great help article on how to create one: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204316#web

Step 2: Validate your RSS Feed

If you're hosting your podcast on CastCloud.fm, head over to "My Podcasts" > "view" > "distribution" and click on the clipboard next to your RSS feed to copy it.

Now head over to this link to validate your podcast feed:

Paste your RSS feed url in the input box and click the "validate" button

Step 3: Submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts

Once your feed is validated, the "submit" button should light up. Click that to officially submit your podcast to Apple Podcasts for approval.

Once submitted, Apple will review your podcast. It could take up to two weeks, but we've seen approvals return in a few days or as quick as 24 hours.

Step 4: You're done!

Now that your podcast is submitted and hopefully approved, simply publish your episodes within CastCloud.fm and your subscribers will automatically get updated when new episodes are available.
